Mock inquest training course

13 March 2025 to 03 April 2025

The cost of this course is £295.00+VAT for all six modules.

This virtual training course will provide essential knowledge and tools, delivered by a range of legal experts from Browne Jacobson. The course is made up of both live and on-demand content, including insights, lectures and mock inquest scenarios. This year we are delighted to be joined by Dr Nina Lewis, Medical Examiner, Kathryn Fearn, Director of Legal Services and five experienced Coroners:

  • Chris Stark, Assistant Coroner for Northamptonshire
  • Ian Dreelan, Assistant Coroner for Birmingham
  • Louise Hunt, Senior Coroner for Birmingham
  • Dr Robert Hunter, Former Senior Coroner for Derby and South Derbyshire (retired)
  • Zak Golombeck, Area Coroner for Manchester City.

Made up from four live modules and bonus on-demand content, the course covers the inquest process from start to finish and provides practical advice and guidance on reporting deaths and certification, writing reports for the Coroner and giving oral evidence in court or remotely. It includes several mock in-person inquests and a mock remote inquest hearing to provide a realistic experience of an inquest hearing from opening to conclusion and aims to introduce delegates to best practice when dealing with inquest hearings. The course also considers the wider implications of an inquest for the organisations and clinicians involved, looking at media coverage, compensation claims, disciplinary and professional implications.
