Children's Trust webinar: Rebuilding Children's Services
In this session, we look at how to manage and respond to current challenges, including interventions, service failures and serious incidents, and consider future models for long term transformation of services.
This webinar took place on 11 January 2022 and is now available on-demand.
Children’s services have faced unprecedented challenges in recent years. With Ofsted ratings for many authorities “inadequate” or “requires improvement” and interventions in place in a number of areas, it is clear many services are struggling to cope. But there are also success stories. Sunderland’s 3 year turnaround is an example of a transformation which has enabled enormous change in a short period of time. Sunderland implemented a children’s trust, while other authorities such as Medway have achieved improvement without this step. While these individual narratives are developing, the independent review of children’s social care continues to explore the future of care, including issues such as ‘hyper local’ v national provision.
In this session, we look at how to manage and respond to current challenges, including interventions, service failures and serious incidents, and consider future models for long term transformation of services.
