Victoria has worked at Browne Jacobson since 1999 and has built up a great deal of experience working with both local authority and national government agency clients. She specialises in defendant public liability work advising local authority and other public sector clients on employers’, occupiers’ data protection and highways liability cases from initial instruction to trial. Including, fast and multi-track work. Victoria works at both the pre- and post- litigation stage and also handles investigatory work. Clients have complimented her on her straightforward approach and ability to consider issues on a pragmatic basis.
Expertise
Featured experience
Employer's liability
Appealing a claim to the Court of Appeal where we argued the outcome of the claimant's actions on the day of the incident were not reasonably foreseeable and the defendant could not have been expected to have predicted her reaction.
Public liability
Successfully defending a matter to trial where we were suspicious about causation. The claim involved a tripping accident over a ripped piece of astroturf at a leisure centre. By gathering appropriate evidence, the claimant did not come up to proof at trial.
Secondments
Victoria has undertaken secondments with the NHSR, Gallagher Bassett, Derbyshire County Council and Peterborough City Council, giving her a strong perspective of working as a claims handler in-house, particularly with local authorities’ risk and insurance teams.
Training
Regularly provides training to clients such as Nottingham City Council, Leicestershire Partnership NHS trust, Nottingham University’s NHS Trust and Royal Derby Hospital.
