Ruby is an associate in the social care team, based in the Manchester office. Ruby has cultivated a broad practice across the sector - which frequently includes health and public law elements - as a litigator and advisor for a variety of insurance, government, and local authority clients.
As a litigator, Ruby defends local authorities in complex abuse cases, navigating claims brought on the basis of professional negligence, vicarious liability, and under the Human Rights Act. Ruby has acted for a number of local authorities in complex claims arising from medicalised abuse. Calm and approachable, Ruby enjoys working with professional witnesses and experts in challenging situations to provide the best outcomes for her clients.
Ruby has advised expert providers for the Ministry of Justice’s Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service (HLPAS), providing bespoke advice in novel areas of law. Ruby has also advised in matters relating to child protection and safeguarding.
Ruby’s legal experience stems from working in house in local authority Child Protection legal departments. While training, Ruby also worked in the Health and Advisory Litigation team, dealing with cases in the Court of Protection.
Ruby undertakes pro-bono work as a volunteer for the Schools Consent Project, teaching young people about consent.
