The Employment Rights Bill 2024 heralds a new era in employment law and it's imperative that schools and academies prepare now for the changes ahead.
The government has pitched the bill as “the biggest upgrade to rights at work for a generation” as it aims to reset the way employers manage employees.
The bill will introduce pivotal adjustments in areas such as day one rights for unfair dismissal, flexible working, trade union relations and equal pay for disability and race.
It'll also bring a further, significant shift in the autonomy schools have to determine pay for support staff, by establishing a new School Support Staff Negotiating Body (SSSNB) by 2027.
Get to grips with these changes by joining our leading education employment lawyers, Polly O'Malley and Heather Mitchell. They'll equip you with the knowledge to navigate these changes in a way that retains your agency in how you manage staff. They'll also discuss how you can continue moving forward with confidence until the SSSNB is fully established.
This session is free to attend and open to all, but it’ll be of particular interest to school and trust leaders and anybody on their team working within the HR and employment function or responsible for managing staff.
