Sam is an Associate in our construction team. Sam has a broad range of contentious (back-end) and non-contentious (front-end) construction, engineering and infrastructure experience in Australia and the United Kingdom. Sam qualified as a Solicitor in Queensland, Australia in June 2020 and made the transition to the UK in 2022.
Sam specialises in advising clients on all aspects of non-contentious and contentions construction matters. Sam’s experience in contentious matters includes advising a range of clients including large corporates, main contractors and local authorities and helps guide clients through the litigation process.
Sam is able to report on all of the industry standard forms of construction contract, bespoke forms of contract, collateral warranties, appointments, performance bonds, parent company guarantees and letters of intent.

Assisting with action on behalf of major international insurers in relation to a dispute in the Technology and Construction Court for a claim of £27m regarding the insured’s professional indemnity policy following alleged defects at a Care Home in the UK.
Energy from Waste PFI Termination
Assisting with acting on behalf of two local authorities in the UK in relation to a dispute in the Technology and Construction Court on contractually mandated compensation on termination valuation of a PFI/PPP contract for the construction and operation of an energy from waste facility in the UK. This reported matter (Resource
Recovery Solutions (Derbyshire) Ltd ((in Administration)) v Derbyshire County Council [2023] EWHC 708 (TCC) involved assisting with the conduct of a litigated Technology and Construction Court proceedings for a claim of £200m.
Client Secondment
Undertaking a client secondment with a global construction and consultancy firm. The secondment involved working alongside the in-house legal team of the company. This involved working across a variety of construction, consultancy and facilities management projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East and the USA. The projects used a variety of forms of contract from bespoke agreements to the JCT forms of contract as well as NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract.
