Matthew is an Associate in the construction services team at Browne Jacobson and qualified via the Solicitor Apprentice route whilst working in-house in the legal team for a well known regional contractor.
The route Matthew has taken into the profession has provided him with valuable hands-on experience working closely with the contractor's commercial team, which means that Matthew is able to advise Browne Jacobson's construction clients with the benefit of his client focused experience, offering key advice on procurement and risk management spanning multiple sectors including commercial and housing projects.
Matthew is experienced in drafting and negotiating different construction contract documentation with particular experience of the JCT, NEC3 and NEC4 suite of contracts, in addition to bespoke forms and procurement via frameworks.
He often drafts and advises on professional appointments, collateral warranties, and other key construction documents such as deeds of novation and letters of intent.
Matthew has also had experience with contentious matters including breach of contract and professional negligence claims and adjudications.
