Browne Jacobson appoints new procurement partner to government and infrastructure team

17 July 2024

Browne Jacobson has strengthened its government and infrastructure team with the appointment of a partner specialising in public procurement law.

Bradley Martin joins the UK and Ireland law firm from Addleshaw Goddard, where he was Legal Director.

Consistently recognised as a ‘rising star’ by the Legal 500 directory, Bradley bolsters Browne Jacobson’s growing Manchester team, while he will work with clients across the UK.

He said: “It’s hugely exciting to join Browne Jacobson at a time when the firm’s profile is growing both nationally and in the North West.

“With expertise that straddles both the public and private sectors, we are very well placed to advise clients from both worlds on government tenders and to guide them through changes brought by the Procurement Act when it is implemented in October this year.

“I look forward to bringing my experience in public procurement to the team and further developing our offering to clients.”

Bradley’s public procurement expertise, strengthened by secondments in the public and private sectors, involves advising on the full suite of procurement documents and strategies, ranging from service agreements to major regeneration projects.

He has acted on some of the largest-ever procurements conducted under the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 in the energy and rail sectors, with combined values exceeding £14bn.

Landmark projects included procuring a multi-supplier enterprise to deliver upgrades to the UK’s energy infrastructure, supporting a private utility on its £200m second generation IT services procurement, and advising a local authority in Greater Manchester on its £350m procurement of a joint venture partner to deliver major commercial, housing and leisure developments in a town centre.

Peter Ware, Head of Government, said: “With public-private partnerships set to be a major theme of the new Government and new legislation soon coming into force, our excellence in this area is something we are really proud about.

“We are thrilled to have further strengthened our team with the addition of Bradley, who brings fantastic experience of working on large-scale procurements across a range of sectors.”
