It is the policy of Browne Jacobson to manage all activities and operations of the firm in a responsible manner that protects the health, safety and welfare of its employees, clients, contractors and public, and minimises any potential adverse impact on the environment
Our commitments

- protecting the environment by reducing our impact
- committing to continual improvement of the firm’s EHS performance by setting objectives and targets.
EHS management
Our EHS management helps us to comply with relevant legislation and adopt best practice principles. It also helps us to identify and manage our most significant potential environmental, health and safety impacts. To accomplish this, we will:
- make the environment, health and safety a key aspect of the firm’s business strategy and values
- demonstrate visible senior leadership and ensure that environmental, health and safety (EHS) protection take equal prominence with other business considerations in the decision-making process.
- ensure all personnel, whether employees or contractors, are aware of their EHS responsibilities and are properly trained to undertake these.
- provide the resources necessary to implement the policy and to develop and maintain the firm’s EHS management.
- design and manage activities to prevent pollution, minimise environmental and health impacts and provide workplaces where safety hazards have been assessed and appropriately controlled.
- encourage use of best practice to reduce the environmental impact of the firm’s operations, particularly with efficient use of energy and materials, the minimisation of waste and the prevention of pollution.
- ensure appropriate contingency plans and resources are in place to respond to incidents and emergencies.
- ensure the firm’s operations comply with legislative requirements and associated approved codes of practice and guidance.
- communicate and consult with stakeholders and the public and have regard for their interests when planning activities.
- conduct monitoring of the EHS management to ensure its observed and seek improvement as required.
- act with integrity always.
Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the Board and Executive to ensure all employees (and where appropriate clients, partners and stakeholders) understand how the policy affects them and the important contribution they make.
It is the responsibility of all employees, partners and stakeholders to firstly comply with, but also contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of relevant controls, processes and procedures that ensure all aspects of the policy are accomplished, as well as ensure necessary objectives and targets are achieved.
